Falling Kingdoms Has Sucked Me IN!

You know those books. The ones that grow fingers that weave their way into your chest while you read without knowing it, and clutch your heart so hard there's no chance they'll let you go. It's magic when this happens. Plain and simple, magic.

These become our favorite books, the ones we can't stop talking about. The ones that make it hard to be around real people because all we want to do is talk about what our heroes did in the last chapter. The ones we throw across the room when things don't go the way we think they should (Yes, I've done this. When Frodo put the ring on instead of throwing it into Mount Doom? Or when Clary found out Jace was her BROTHER? Yeah, those books got catapulted.).

I keep trying to think of how this happens. What specifically is in a book that makes it so real and have this magic? It happened for me in Harry Potter (and still does!), in the Infernal Devices series, and yes, even in Twilight (though I find that magic hasn't lasted, though I do still enjoy watching the movies).

But still, why do I read The Night Circus every time it's fall just to taste the cinnamon-caramel-huggy-sweater feel of the book, and swoon over Celia and Marco's forbidden romance?

It's the characters. It's the setting, the description, the emotions, the REALITY and tangibility that what's on the page paints a picture so vivid we can taste it. And my friends, it's happened again for me with Morgan Rhodes' Falling Kingdoms series.

I can't get enough! I've been listening to it on audible, but it's the kind of thing I wish I had on paperback so I could go back through and relive my favorite moments. The characters are so real, they're feeling and hateful and loveable and cheer-on-able all at once. Your favorite guys become someone else's bad guy, and the bad guys suddenly turn into someone you're cheering for when 50 pages before you never thought you would. The plot interlaces amid the varying heroes' stories so intricately and flawlessly it's rapture to read and makes me insanely aspiration-al, wanting to create something this complex and vivid and gripping. I love this series, you guys. I can't even say how much. (And I also may or may not have a crush on Magnus...)

I haven't yet read Gathering Darkness, because it's my reward for finishing my edits, lol. Because I know once I start I won't be able to do anything else and I've GOT to get my Such a Clever Deception edits done, ha ha.

What was the last book you read that sucked you in so completely?

Her Moon and Other Updates

I decided very last-minute to publish a favorite story of mine. I told you before about the short story I wrote for an anthology of stories based on the works of Shakespeare, which I'm sad to see isn't getting very good reviews or much interest, because I LOVE MY STORY and the other stories are wonderful! I want to share it with people and let them read it and love it too!

So I decided to publish mine separately.

I found this beautiful premade cover thanks to Najla Qamber Designs (she's truly brilliant). And I decided to put it out there.

I also worked up a landing page for my blog (you may have noticed?) and even though this beauty is 99 cents on amazon, you can get it for FREE when you sign up for my newsletter!

I've also been getting the final edits done on Such a Clever Deception which will be coming October 27, 2015. I put it up for preorder on Amazon, thinking I'd be able to price-match it for free from other sites only to find out that I can't set preorders for free. Alas. So if you want it for free, wait until it releases!

I'm also planning on revealing the cover for the sequel , Such a Daring Endeavor, within the next month, AND I got the cover design for the other prequel to the Stolen Tears series, Such a Terrible Price. I'm just--you guys, I'm so excited to get these out there! This series is so fun--I love to be in a world where emotions are slim-pickings and only a few actually feel them, where tears are magical, and where this romance just grips my heart as I write it.

<---- One vial of tears holds magc they've never known. And only one girl can wield it.

What's new with you? And be sure to get Her Moon for free by signing up!

xoxo
