Never Be Younger Release and The MOTHER of All Giveaways!!

I LOVE SHAKESPEARE. He's nothing short of a genius. His stories are fun and touching and just plain brilliant and so when I heard about this YA anthology, to take his works and write short stories with our own take on them, I jumped on the chance!

I had so much fun writing To Undreamed Shores, my short story retelling of The Winter's Tale. It's one of his lesser-known plays, and actually, I didn't know that much about it when I picked it, but that's one reason I did! So I could learn more of what it was about.

Long story short, a king and queen are expecting a baby. Their friend has been visiting for the last nine months, and when he announces he's leaving, the queen begs him to stay so fervently that suddenly the king suspects THE FRIEND IS THE FATHER. So naturally, he accuses them, throws the queen in prison and tries to kill his friend. It's what we'd all do, right? (Yeah. Seriously dude?)

While the king hires a soothsayer of sorts to determine the queen's innocence, the queen has the baby in prison and unfortunately dies. The baby is taken to the countryside and left to be raised by a sheepherder, and that's where my story begins.

Although seventeen-year-old Perdita Aravale has loved her simple life as a sheepherder’s ward, she longs to see the moon from somewhere else besides Bohemia. A boy has never been included in these dreams of escape, but when she meets Cove Rutledge—and with his help discovers the truth about her parentage—those dreams are about to change.

Here's the Goodreads blurb for the anthology:

Classic story meets the modern world...and out of this world.

From the halls of a high school to hip night clubs to the depths of space, Never Be Younger gives Shakespeare's classic plays and sonnets a fresh spin for a new audience. Nine authors pay tribute to the Bard by taking his timeless tales to new heights, entrancing readers all over again. A Shakespeare story by any other name still reads as sweet.

The best part is that the proceeds benefit the United Through Reading charity fund!

I'm so jazzed that the book has been released today. It has been written by eight other highly talented authors----

Rachel Bateman, Jessica L. Pierce, S. M. Johnston, Adrianne James, E. L. Wicker, Olivia Hinebaugh, Christina June, and Nicole Zoltack

I am with you, I love Shakespeare! I have read (as well as seen) quite a few of his plays, and they are some of my favorite things to study. This book seems amazing, can't wait to check it out!
