What's Up Wednesday?

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Huge thanks to Erin and Jaime for hosting this. I love that it gets me blogging, lol! :D

What I'm Reading

I just started Jolene B. Perry's Left to Love. So far, so good! I gobbled up the first one, so I can't wait to see what happens in the sequel!

I'm also trying to broaden my education when I can and have been reading/interested in U.S. History, since I'm finding that I've forgotten some of what I learned in school (tragic). So I'm trying to squeeze in George Washington's Sacred Fire as well! It's crazy thick and is a bit like reading a textbook, but nerd that I am, I'm enjoying it.

What I'm Writing

I'm spiffing up some revisions on my YA fantasy/sci fi Sealed With a Kiss, as well as on a YA Contemporary called This Thing Called Life.

What Inspires Me Right Now

Cover reveals! I LOVE SEEING PEOPLE'S COVERS. It's sooooo motivating and I'm all excited for them and then it pumps me up to write and get my stuff ready so I can hopefully soon be at that point as well!!

Just for fun, here's my friend Liz's amazing cover... (I *love* it)

What Else I've Been Up To

My mom and brother and his family came up this past weekend and as a surprise for my birthday last week, my SIL helped make pillows to go with my cute new bedspread. It was so fun!! And my SIL is a genius--in the time it took me to make one pillow she made FIVE. This girl is amazing, she's the type of person who can just look at something and make it, the type of person who can just throw ingredients together and have a recipe masterpiece. It was so fun to have the kids play with their cousins too!

PILLOWS!!

What's new with you?

I love the new bedspread and pillows! You ladies did a wonderful job on the pillows. They look great! I love seeing all the cover reveals, too. Liz's is particularly awesome. Can't wait to read it when it comes out. Sounds like you're getting some serious revisions done over there. Can you share some of that revision mojo??? ;-) Have a wonderful week, Cortney!

I love Liz's cover. Gorgeous! And speaking of pretty things, your blog design is lovely. :-) I've been hunting for new throw pillows for my couch, without much luck. Everything I like is crazy-expensive! Perhaps it's time to pull out the old sewing machine. Have a wonderful week, Cortney!

What gorgeous covers! Very eye-catching, I was intrigued as soon as I saw them ;)

And those pillows! *swoon* How lovely to have such creativity in your life, I'm very jealous. She should open up a shop on Etsy!

Best of luck with the revisions and polishing :)

Oh wow! I love the new bedspread and pillows! So cute, and your SIL clearly has a knack for that sort of thing. I went shopping this weekend for new bedding but had no luck. Wish I'd found anything that nice!

Isn't Liz's cover gorgeous! I can't wait for her book to come out!

Good luck on all your revisions this week! :)

Awesome. I'm totally inspired by cover reveals too. I mean, there's something so powerful about an image that can set your imagination on fire--coupled with a title of course.

Cover reveals are always great, and Liz's sure is super pretty! And so are the pillows- you both are quite talented. I've never attempted a pillow and can only imagine the lumpy square that would result. =)

I wish I could make some fun pillows like that. Unfortunately I'm no seamstress.

Wow, those pillows look so fun! I'm a history nerd too, but I haven't read that Washington book yet. Maybe I'll have to go search it out!

That was a nice birthday surprise. And I bet she could make a hundred in the time it would take me to make one pillow. Badly.
It is cool seeing great new covers!

Crafts and recipes are fun. :) Making things together = bonding!

I remember reading "Adams vs. Jefferson: the Tumultuous Election of 1800" which was assigned for my AP US history class in high school, and surprisingly, turned out to not be as thick, boring, or unreadable as I feared. That period has a lot of interesting people. I hope you enjoy 'Sacred Fire.'

Those pillows are fab! My sewing skills aren't really the best so it would have taken me a long time to make one, too!

I am so jealous of people like your SIL.

Jolene always comes up with the best covers!
