Yesterday it rained like crazy so the guys couldn't be in the field, so we all took a tour of the nearby sugar factory. It was cool to see how they turn beets into sugar, but I walked WAY MORE than a seven month pregnant woman should be walking. Consequently, I've been up since FOUR AM this morning because I'm so achy and couldn't sleep!!
(Here I am with two of the guys staying with us. We didn't know we had to wear boots for the tour so we got to wear these awesome yellow booties.)

The point?
I've been up for the last hour writing in TOTAL DARKNESS. Because if I turn a light on, it will inevitably disturb one of our sleeping guests in this house full of dudes. So I'm trying to be quiet as my nails click on the keys of my computer, and wait for the sun to rise!
It's quite an experience. I have to say I've never written in complete darkness. And the fact that I'm revising my YA horror novel in a blackout is a little FREAKY. Good for mood-setting, though, I guess!
Where's the craziest place/setting you've ever done your writing at?

I LOVE sugar beets! I remember back in high school we had to do a chemistry experiment with sugar beets, and I had a little taste of it. I liked it so much that I ate the whole beet and later I got accused of eating up the experiment, haha! Haven't had sugar beets since though.
Don't really have a crazy place I've been writing. Most of the writing happens at the dinner table, on the couch or on my desk.
Oh my gosh! You didn't tell me about the pitch black writing... lol... Oh man, Cort... too funny! Your next book needs to be about a chick living with a bunch of guys... I'm sure you can twist it into something awesome! :D
Ha ha! I wrote a couple of scenes of my current WIP in total darkness on purpose. I even dimmed my computer screen. I was trying to pull other senses into the descriptions, so I "blinded" myself to see if it would evoke some scents or feelings or whatever - it did!
But, uh, a horror story? No way!
I've tried writing in the dark too. It's not easy.
So what part of the country do you live? I just ask cause we live in the heart of a sugar beet area too. I'm just glad I don't live next to and American Crystal sugar plant which uses all them grown around here. Very stinky.
Lol! I worked at a 'piler' one season, dumping trucks. It was a blast!
Cool that you could write something scary in the dark like that. It'd scare the bee-geebees out of me :)
A sugar factory tour sounds like fun!! I can't think of anywhere too crazy I've done any writing, although last month I did some revisions in my old bedroom at my parents' house, which was kinda surreal :)
fun and creepy! sounds mood enhancing indeed! great pic!
I don't know that I've ever had a sugar beet. And I live in a farming area!
The craziest place I ever written was while sitting in 130F next to a pool in Kuwait during Ramadan (so no drinking or eating in public) Talk about "sweat" equity!
THIS is a GENIUS idea! I'm going to try writing in the dark!
Hope everything is going well with you and the baby :) So, so close ;)
OH writing a scary book in the dark would be crazy, but awesome. I've written almost everywhere. mostly now I write at work (it's an overnight job and writing there is allowed.)
hmmm...writing at the bowling alley. yep, was at work waiting on some people to finish playing and happened to bring my notebook just in case and next thing i knew, i had tuned everyone out and just wrote and wrote! thanks for stopping by my blog! new follower...hi!
Cool!
