During Rachael Harrie's Blogging Campaign (which has got to be the coolest thing ever, she's why I've met so many of you awesome people!!) I won a book cover design from the fabulous Shelley Coon. You HAVE to check out her other work here and here. She is completely amazing!!
I'm so in love with this cover for my YA fantasy STOLEN TEARS, which I'll be querying in a few weeks after I get an agent's feedback on my first ten pages. (I signed up for a critique at the SCBWI conference in Boise this month--incidentally, anyone else out there going?) Anyway, here is the gorgeousness:
I can't stop looking at it! I've set it as the wallpaper on my computer! Now I half want to self-publish my book so I can use this beautiful cover, lol!! (But I do want to try my hand at the traditional way first, ha ha.) Anyway, hope you all enjoy it, and go bebop over and check out Shelley's work. She's amazing!
Poor Shelley, I had a hard time telling her what I pictured it because I'd never really pictured it before! But I gave her my query and she whipped out two versions. Both were awesome, but this one really resonated with me!! Shelley also has a blog/website here.
Have you ever done covers for your WIPs before?

Wow, Shelley is super talented... I can see the temptation of just wanting to go the self-pubishing route to get this beautiful image (and story!) out there! Good luck with your critique in Boise!
EEP! That cover looks freakin' awesome! Dude, I think that's one of the more exciting parts of writing and yay for you for winning this! I'd save it as my wallpaper too. Maybe make a huge poster and stick it by my computer so I see it all the time.
That's a gorgeous cover. I'm in the market for a cover artist (because I like to think I'll need one some day soon) so I'll definitely have to check her out.
I made a cover for myself but it looks like a middle school art project done by the kid who eats too much paste. Still, I had a lot of fun doing it.
That's a gorgeous cover! I must see more of Shelley's work right now! Good luck with the queries!
That is so wallpaper worthy! I love the title as well. I'm having all sorts of visions with a title as Stolen Tears...symbolic, poignant...okay, you have to get published, Cortney! I'm loving your story already, and that's just by the cover!
I love it! The cover and the title! Gorgeous!
I made covers for the first couple of books I wrote, but like the books they were terrible lol :)
Ohhhh... Cort, I love it. And having read this FAHBULOUS story, it totally works. Shelley is talented! :D
Very nice!
This is beautiful! Love the midnight blue tear streak!
Also, read your bio in the sidebar and cracked up! People would be surprised at the edge in my writing based on my pretty blog, too!
Love the cover, and blue tear. So cool.

Love it! And the best thing is, it makes me want to read your book!
Very cool cover :D
Ooh, pretty! Is it me or does the model look just like the actress Claire Danes? Love it x
Eee, thanks so much everybody!! And @Fairview, excellent, that's exactly what I'm going for, lol!!
That is a beautiful cover. Wow!
Oh WOW! I love it! No wonder you can't stop looking at it. It's phenomenal. And I love your title too. I must look into her stuff. It's awesome Cortney!!!
Wow. That is great. Love it.
That is an amazing cover! Brings up a few questions right off the bat like...blue tears? :)
This is gorgeous! How cool that you can pop this open every morning for some writing inspiration:)
My husband is a web designer and as a treat for finishing every first draft, he designs a cover for me. SO MOTIVATIONAL. Love the cover.
Wow! That is some gorgeousness. She's very talented. :)
Very cool! Shelley did a bang up job!
That's great! I wouldn't stop looking at it either! :)
It looks great, Courtney! ANd good luck with your querying!
I have covers done for all my mss, just cuz it's fun and makes them feel real even if they're not pubbed. They're on my Projects page of my blog.
Hope you get some awesome feedback to work with! :D
Whoa! Cortney! That! Is! Beautiful! I seriously want to know who did that cover for you? You? A friend? I totally need to get my hands on that person. They did a fabulous job! Woot. It looks super professional. I'd buy it by just seeing the cover.
Good luck on querying. You can do it, babe!
And in answer to your question, I've never done a book cover. Maybe I'll have to do one someday.
Shelley Coon did it for me. She has a website and does fabulous work! :D

And thanks for the kind words!!!
What a great treat! That's fabulous!
Awesome cover!! Covers are SO important. I honestly cannot think of what mine would look like (Of course, I've thought of that many times). It must be something attention grabbing, lol.
Hi Cortney! I LOVE this cover!!! It is so beautiful and inspiring! :) I have not created my own book covers but I have made collages, character pages, props, costumes and miniature scenes of my books and characters. I have been meaning to create a cover for a while. It would make a great vision board addition.
I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award! Visit this link to collect: http://melissakline.blogspot.com/2012/04/sunshine-award.html
Keep spreading sunshine!
Gorgeous cover! I would totally pick it up. :) I love doing mock covers for my books. It's lots of fun!
Purty! What a fun prize. I'd be tempted to self-publish, too. :)
I come here every now and then just to look at your pretty cover...
LOL
:D
Is this for the same Stolen Tears I read your query for? That is a wickedly nice cover, Cortney. You're going places. :)
I haven't ever made one, but oh my gosh-- how fun! I love yours!
That is amazing!!! Love it.
And, side note, why can I never figure out when there's a writer's conference in Boise? Send me the details if you have them ... and if it's not too late!?
